What you’ll do

Reporting to the Development Director, the software development team lead is a key element in our quest to reach our objectives while enjoying work.

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Follow day to day of its team as well as keeping direction informed of schedule changes.
  • Establish strong leadership and coaching skills to manage and develop its team members.
  • Ensure each team member has strong ownership on what it develops, including automated tests and deployment (CiCd).
  • Collaborate with other team leads, directors and CTO to plan and follow strategy as well as technical direction and scope aligned with Heyday’s goals and objectives.
  • Participate in roadmap elaboration, estimation and ensure it is followed.
  • Accountable for quality and reliability of deliverables by its team.
  • Establish a right equilibrium between new features, code improvement as well as bug fixing in the team in general.
  • Transfer product requirements to technical requirements. Ensure product requirements are respected in the final solution.
  • Develop and implement standards and best practices in collaboration with directors and other team leads. Ensure processes are streamlined and consistent across all teams.

Depending on your skill set, personal goal and Heyday needs,  you may manage front-end developers, back-end developers, full-stack developers, AI developers, QA developers, etc.

What you’ll need

  • You have strong demonstrated leadership skills
  • You have Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • You have 5+ years of experience in software development
  • You have 2+ years of management experience leading a performant team
  • You have expertise with programming languages (such as Node.js, Angular, HTML & CSS), cloud computing services (like AWS), serverless architectures, devops mentality and processes (like CiCd) as well as  network & security knowledge 
  • You have experience with Agile software development
  • Ability to work in English (French is a nice plus) and excellent oral and written communication skills

The following would be considered as assets too:

  • You have demonstrated creative problem solving capabilities
  • You have experience supporting customers and you’ll like to do it once in a while
  • You are able to think fast, adapt and have a pragmatic hands-on approach
  • You have knowledge of Software QA automation principles and/or solutions.
  • You have Start-up experience
